The McAllen Wind Ensemble kicks off 44th Concert Season.

The McAllen Wind Ensemble (formerly the McAllen Town Band) is currently embarking on it’s 44th concert season.  The ensemble’s focus continues to be on improving the quality of life in the Rio Grande Valley through regular public concerts, fostering and promoting a greater appreciation of music by the general public, and encouraging continued interest and participation in music by members of the community.  Last year, under the leadership of musical director, Roger Olivarez, the ensemble took up residence at the new McAllen Performing Arts Center – the best performance concert venue in the Valley.

In addition to our traditional Tree Lighting Concert in December at the McAllen Convention Center and our July 4th Concert at Archer Park, our 2018-19 season concerts include:

November 13 “America Loves the Movies.” Join us for a fun night at the movies with some of your favorite movie soundtracks! Be sure to come dressed as your favorite movie character to participate in our costume contests and have some fun at our photo booth.

December 14 “How the McAllen Wind Ensemble Stole Christmas.” The Grinch can’t pull anything over on our Wind Ensemble!  Be ready for a night of carols and holiday fun…maybe even a visit from Santa or that mischievous Grinch!  Guest artists – The Rio Grande Valley Children’s Chorus.

February 12, 2019 “Love Stinks -An Anti-Valentine’s Day Concert.” Sick of the hearts, candy, and flowers?  So are we!  Come spend an evening with the McAllen Wind Ensemble enjoying the music of love lost, love found, and love stomped into the ground. Special Guest – mezzo-soprano Maria Avalos.

March 29, 2019 “Roaring 20s:  A Gatsby Gala.” The season finale will be a night to remember! The evening will start with a Dinner Theater followed by our 1920’s tribute concert. The evening will end with and post-concert Gatsby themed Ball! Special guest – Francisco Rocafuerte. Limited tickets available for the full Gala Experience.
